Bio/Admin History The Royal United Services Institute of Vancouver Island (RUSI) was known as the United Services Institute of Vancouver Island until Dec. 21, 1972 when the name was changed by Royal consent. The organisation was established in Victoria, B.C. in 1927 as a military service group recognized by the Dept. of National Defence. The stated aims of the institute are to provide a forum for discussion and review of armed forces policy and policy in national and world affairs. In addition, the institute promotes social gatherings for the members.
Scope and Content The fonds consists of minutes (1927-1948, 1955-1970) and account journal (1936-1940) of the United Services Institute of Vancouver Island for the 81-001 accession. The 1998-060 accession includes board of director's minutes, newsletters, annual files, newsletters, biographical notes, speeches and photographs.
