| Bio/Admin History | Allan Demers was born in South Africa and was a member of the OFS Regional Council and the Progressive Party. He moved to Canada ca. the early 1970s, settling in Ocean Falls, B.C., and later at Shawnigan Lake, B.C. In 1977, as Chairman of the Coastal Transport Action Committee, he helped fight for better ferry service to the Ocean Falls/Bella Bella areas of the B.C. Coast. Demers kept in touch with friends in South Africa and created research files relating to racial, cultural and economic issues in South Africa. |
| Scope and Content | The fonds consists of Demers' collection of clippings from South African newspapers re: apartheid; pamphlets, correspondence, notes, brochures and clippings concerning South Africa and related matters; newspapers, magazines and journals published in and/or relating to South Africa, representing black, Jewish and Christian groups. |
