Bio/Admin History George Cuomo was born in New York City. He received a BA from Tufts University in 1952 and an MA from Indiana University in 1955. He taught English at the University of Arizona, Tucson from 1956-61, at Victoria College/University of Victoria from 1961 to 1965, from 1965 to 1973 at California State College at Hayward, California and from 1973 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His first novel "Jack Be Nimble" was published in 1963. Among his best known novels are "Among Thieves", "Family Honor" and "Trial By Water". Cuomo has also published a book of short stories "Sing, Choirs of Angels", a textbook on reading and a non-fiction work "A Couple Of Cops".
Scope and Content The fonds consists of records documenting Cuomo's writing activities. Fonds includes notebooks and lists recording hours worked and money earned from his writing; notes, variant drafts and proofs for his novels, short stories and poems, as well as news clippings and other research material; variant drafts of an unpublished play; variant drafts of essays, articles and book reviews; brochures and other ephemera.
