Friends of UVic Libraries
We have just renewed our strategic plan in support of the goals of the university to continually address the needs and expectations of our students and faculty. The next two years will build on the University of Victoria Libraries' record or innovation to support teaching and learning, the pursuit of knowledge and lifelong learning.
The Friends of UVic Libraries are a very valuable part of our strategic planning goals. We value the connection our current Friends have with the University Library and want to ensure that as we expand our outreach, we continue to communicate the libraries goals and achievements to you.
We also encourage anyone interested in learning more about the UVic Libraries to become a Friend of UVic Libraries. We maintain a Friends' mailing list and ask you to contact Jaqui Thompson in the University Librarian's Office at (250) 721-8211 or jthompso@uvic.ca to ensure we have your current and complete contact information.
We will continue with a limited copy print run of a library newsletter, the campus commitment to sustainability directs all of us to be less reliant on print for our information needs. Our library newsletter, produced twice a year, will highlight our new services, collections, staff profiles and university news.
For those Friends with a continuing interest in specific subject areas or our special collections we direct you to these sections of our website. These resources maintained by our librarians will provide timely information to fit your interests.
Should you wish to support the library financially, we would be most grateful if you donated gifts of any size to one of our endowments or our Friends of the UVic Library Fund. Many of our library funds address the importance of building collections for all areas of the library from Archives and Special Collections to books that support teaching and learning in individual departments and faculties. As we continue to enrich library collections, the importance of extending these cultural and intellectual resources to the community becomes paramount. A donation to the Friends of the UVic Library Fund will assist with the promotion, celebration and sharing of our collections.
